Terms & Conditions

Terms and Conditions – Pro Detect Leak Detection

  1. General Terms
1.1 These Terms and Conditions apply to all swimming pool and spa leak detection services provided by Pro Detect Leak Detection.
1.2 By engaging our services, the client agrees to these Terms and Conditions.
1.3 Leak detection services are non-invasive; however, testing methods may require access to certain areas of the pool and associated plumbing.
1.4 All services are conducted on a best-effort basis to locate leaks; no guarantee is provided that all leaks will be detected during a single visit.
1.5 Leak detection does not guarantee a completely watertight pool; pools may have multiple leaks that require additional testing beyond the initial service.
1.6 Any undetectable water loss (e.g., under 2mm per day due to environmental evaporation) will not constitute a leak and may require additional investigation at the client’s cost.
1.7 These Terms and Conditions may be updated periodically, and it is the customer’s responsibility to review the latest version prior to engaging our services.
  1. Pre-Appointment Requirements
2.1 The swimming pool and/or spa must be filled, cleaned, and chemically balanced to its operational water level prior to our attendance, unless otherwise agreed and arranged in writing.
2.2 If the pool or spa does not meet the above conditions and we attend, only limited testing may be available. If rebooking is required, additional call-out fees may apply.
2.3 A call-out fee will apply if the pool/spa is not properly prepared upon arrival, resulting in testing being rescheduled.
2.4 A full water chemistry test and balance should ideally be conducted by your local pool shop within five (5) days of our appointment to ensure that the water is safe for testing, particularly if divers are required.
  1. Booking and Arrival Times
3.1 Bookings are scheduled based on availability. If you have an afternoon booking, the time is indicative, and you will be notified prior to arrival.
3.2 Due to the nature of our work, please allow one hour either side of your booking time for our arrival. If any delays occur, we will notify you as soon as possible.
3.3 Any bookings that require a return visit due to customer-preparedness issues (e.g., pool not filled, debris present) may incur a rebooking fee.
  1. Scope of Leak Detection Services
4.1 Our leak detection service is solely focused on locating leaks. Detection costs do not include any repairs. If a leak is found, a separate repair quote will be provided.
4.2 If a leak is detected in pool pipework, only the largest and most distinctive leak in each tested line can be found in a single session. Secondary leaks may only be detected after the largest leak is repaired or during the repair process.
4.3 If multiple leaks are suspected but only one significant leak is detected, additional testing after repairs may be required at the customer’s expense.
4.4 If the client opts for partial testing, undetected leaks in untested areas are not the responsibility of Pro Detect Leak Detection.
  1. Vinyl Liner Pools
5.1 If we are conducting a vinyl liner leak test, we will make every effort to patch the liner where necessary.
5.2 Vinyl liner patches carry no warranty if the liner is deteriorating, brittle, or has started developing holes due to age or wear.
5.3 If the customer elects to only conduct a liner test and not a full pool test, and the pool continues to lose water, this will be treated as a new leak and will incur additional testing fees.
5.4 If patching is performed, the customer acknowledges that a full liner replacement may still be necessary if the liner continues to leak after testing.
  1. Post-Testing Responsibilities
6.1 Once leak detection is completed, the client must notify us within seven (7) days if the pool water level continues to drop.
6.2 If no notification is received within this timeframe, it will be assumed that the pool has stabilized, and any further water loss will be considered a new leak, requiring additional testing at the client’s expense.
  1. Pool Fittings, Eyeballs, and Suction Covers
7.1 During the leak detection process, we may need to remove certain pool fittings, including eyeballs, suction covers, and return jet fittings, to conduct proper testing.
7.2 We will reinstall all fittings after testing is completed. However, due to the age, wear, and potential brittleness of pool fittings, we are not liable for any fittings that crack, break, or become unusable during removal.
7.3 If any fittings are damaged during removal, the customer will be notified, and replacement fittings will be required at the customer’s expense.
7.4 We endeavour to carry common replacement fittings in our service vehicles. However, we do not stock all types of fittings. If a separate visit is required to fit new fittings, it will be charged at the cost of the replacement parts plus a call-out fee.
  1. Repair Warranty
8.1 Any major repairs conducted by Pro Detect Leak Detection carry a six (6) month workmanship warranty, which covers workmanship and installed parts.
8.2 Due to the nature of pool plumbing and the risk of ground movement, repairs cannot be warranted beyond six months.
8.3 Any warranty claim will first be investigated by pressure testing the repaired line. If the issue is found outside of the original repair area, additional leak detection fees will apply, and a separate repair quote will be provided.
  1. Payment Terms
9.1 For domestic customers, payment is due on completion of the work on-site. Payment facilities will be made available via cash, credit, or debit card at the time of service.
9.2 For trade customers, payment terms are strictly COD or within seven (7) days from the invoice date, unless otherwise agreed in writing.
9.3 Any additional testing, repairs, or return visits must be quoted separately and require pre-approval before proceeding.
9.4 Late payments for all accounts and customers may incur interest at 20% per annum, accrued and calculated daily from the due date of the invoice.
9.5 If payment remains unpaid, all outstanding balances, including accrued interest, will be referred to a third-party debt collection agency, and any fees or costs associated with debt collection will be added to the balance owed.
  1. Limitations of Liability
10.1 Leak detection services are non-invasive and performed without damaging the pool or property. However, we cannot be held liable for existing structural issues, undetectable leaks, or damage caused by third parties.
10.2 In cases where leaks are located under concrete, tiles, decking, or other fixed surfaces, additional invasive testing and/or access work may be required, which will be quoted separately.
10.3 Pro Detect Leak Detection accepts no liability for delays caused by weather, unforeseen circumstances, or customer non-compliance with pre-appointment requirements.
  1. Cancellations and Rebooking Fees
11.1 Cancellations or rescheduling within 24 hours of a scheduled appointment may incur a cancellation fee.
11.2 If we attend a job and cannot perform full testing due to pool conditions (e.g., low water level, excessive debris, or imbalanced chemicals), a rebooking fee may apply.
  1. Client Acknowledgment
12.1 By booking and using our services, the client agrees to these Terms and Conditions and acknowledges that:
  • Leak detection is a process and may require multiple visits to fully diagnose complex issues.
  • The final responsibility for maintaining the pool’s condition rests with the owner.
  • Any undetected leaks due to hidden plumbing, multiple leaks, or external factors are not the responsibility of Pro Detect Leak Detection.
